6 Things Should Learn About Plumbing

What’s the total across all your company’s locations? A: We currently are a crew of 56 in Las Vegas and are recruiting daily to get (it) up to 70 before the first 100-degree day. It warms my heart how Las Vegas has embraced our brand, beliefs and message, which have fueled our rapid growth here, especially since I am born and raised here in Las Vegas. Q: When did you acquire Las Vegas Air and Paradise Air, and how did it come about? What has been the biggest impact overall on your company since you took over these additional businesses? A: We wrapped up the Las Vegas Air and Paradise Air acquisition in November 2016. I’ve acquired a lot of businesses in my career, but these were different than most. This acquisition wasn’t about adding customer base or taking a big competitor out of the market. This one was about bringing experienced talent to the Goettl brand.

Put a small bucket or container right under the valve. If water is coming out, drain another 5 gallons, and repeat. Once water stops coming out, use plumbers pipe wrench to unscrew the valve. STEP 3 Now go to Home Depot / Lowe’s or other local home improvement store and buy a new valve with the SAME pressure setting, and a roll of teflon tape. When you buy your parts, put teflon tape on new valve threads clockwise, and screw in new valve tightly. Be sure to get the right size, or you will have to go get a replacement! STEP 4 Now open cold water and put gas setting back to normal (or turn on circuit breaker if electric). Once tank is full, again gently open pressure relief valve and let a little water out (2-3 ounces). Remember, water will be hot, so be careful. Once you drain 2-3 OZ, and close valve back, see if water is still coming out.

This can happen in many ways such as when shutting off a faucet abruptly, a quick closing toilet refill valve, a commercial toilet flushometer. But one of the most common culprits and cause of Water Hammer is your washing machine. Washing Machines come equipped with very fast closing electronic valves and the higher your incoming water pressure the higher the risk of noise and damage to your plumbing system. This sudden pressure surge will cause unsecured pipes to vibrate severely and depending on the material and how old the plumbing system even break causing thousands in water damage. The higher the incoming water pressure the more likely you’ll experience Water Hammer. Most plumbing codes require the use of water hammer arresters be plumbed into the plumbing system either individually or for a bank of plumbing fixtures. Water Hammer arresters can be fabricated in the field by simply taking a piece of pipe approximately 18″-24″ inches in length and capping one end. That piece of pipe would be installed into a tee connection above where a fixture supply would stub out of a wall. When the system is filled with water, that piece of pipe would become half filled with air thus creating a cushion to take up the shock of the water.

The most interesting point he makes is when he is talking about their bathroom etiquette. Their public toilets are very different from Western toilet. In China, they are called squatters. As you can see in the picture, it is simply a porcelain hole in the ground. It is like a toilet bowl built into the floor instead of above it. Fun fact: there is rarely toilet paper provided, so most Chinese people always carry tissue paper with them. So, if you ever visit you should too. Also, there is almost no soap, but most Chinese don’t use soap anyway as stated by Gold. If you ever visit London, Paris, and/or Amsterdam here are some key things you need to know about their bathroom etiquette. On the website Travel + Leisure, it states some pretty strange things you should know when heading to these European cities. It is common to pay to us public restrooms, even if they appear to be free.
